Generation of Change - Schools Congress
What is the Schools Congress?
Schools Congress is a great opportunity for Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal students to talk together and work together to bring about greater understanding in schools of all of the steps that are needed to forge reconciliation.
The program is aimed at middle and senior school students. In 2016, the Schools Congress was delivered over 400 students in Southern and Northern metropolitan Adelaide, as well as Mt Gambier, Murray Bridge, Port Lincoln and Whyalla. Student leaders, both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal, are encouraged to participate in the congress and facilitate change in their schools and communities.
For the last three year, the Schools Congress program has included ActNow Theatre's interactive Forum Theatre performance "Responding to Racism", which focusses on addressing, preventing and building resilience against racism.
The Schools Congress is held each year in September and October. If you would like to participate in the Schools Congress in 2017, get in touch with Narkita on 8226 8839 to be put on a contact list.
