National Indigenous Youth Parliament 2017
The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC), in collaboration with the YMCA and the Museum of Australian Democracy (MoAD), is hosting the 2017 National Indigenous Youth Parliament (NIYP) to be held in Canberra from 23-29 May 2017.
The NIYP is a week-long leadership program for 50 young Indigenous leaders aged 16 to 25. The purpose is to help develop the Indigenous leaders of the future. Participants will be trained in parliamentary processes, meet with Members of Parliament and the Governor-General and participate in a 2-day simulated parliament at Old Parliament House to mention a few of the activities.
The NIYP aims to bring together bright young Indigenous leaders who are prepared to step up, debate issues and look for solutions to tackle Indigenous disadvantage.
Applications close Friday 3 March 2017.
