Education packs

Forgotten heroes: Honouring the Service and Sacrifice of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples

The education packs are produced by Reconciliation SA in partnership with the Aboriginal Education and Employment unit of Department of Education and Children’s Services, Catholic Education SA, the Association of Independent Schools of SA and Dare to Lead.

The education packs are designed to be stand alone teaching resources for early, primary and middle years.

Forgotten heroes: Honouring the Service and Sacrifice of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples (2010) is the latest addition to the series of education packs. It looks specifically at the involvement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Australia's Armed Services, past and present.

Every school in South Australia has been sent three copies of the pack. If you would like to request additional copies, please contact Reconciliation South Australia.

Schools are also encouraged to download the pack for use in their classrooms. You can download the pack in its entirety or simply download the section you're interested in. We have also created a list of resources online.

Addendum: Please note that the Appendices 2 & 3 in the document have been incorrectly labeled. References to these Appendices within the document are correct, but Appendix 4 should be Appendix 2 and Appendix 5 should be Appendix 3. The Glossary has been incorrectly labeled as Appendix 3. We apologise sincerely for these errors. Please use the list below to download the correct Appendices. The document will be amended shortly.
