Linikka is the newest member of the Reconciliation SA team, coming on as the new Administration and Events Officer.

“My name Is Linikka Richards I am 21 years old I was born in Whyalla, South Australia. I am a very proud Barngarla woman. I am also very proud that the Barngarla language will soon launch a dictionary.

At the age of 16 I became very independent I moved to Adelaide to finish off my senior year at Christies Beach High School, living in a student accommodation with students from CBHS. After school, I started a service skills training at HITsa Training and Employment, which allowed me to work in the hospitality industry for a while.

More recently I have worked with ActNow Theatre as a professional actress on their “Responding to Racism” deliveries, which has afforded me to travel around the state. This is also where I had my first introduction to Reconciliation SA, working as part of their ‘Generation of Change’ schools’ program. While working with ActNow Theatre I also started working for Australian Camp services doing hospitality in the mines.

When I am not at work I would be spending my time at the movies, playing my PS3 or at the beach going crabbing.

I believe that true reconciliation will only come about when all Australians acknowledge the truth of our country’s history and learn to be proud of its First Nations peoples and cultures”
