Reconciliation Week 2009 Program

The following film screenings are proudly presented by the State Library of South Australia.

Event Details

Film screening: Journeys from heartache to hope (40 mins) 2008

Eight members of the Nunkuwarrin Yunti Women's Healing Group use the method of digital storytelling to recall their life journeys through the extraordinary challenges of domestic violence, removal, drug addiction, mental illness, loss of children, home, culture and community. Through the healing love of their families and reconnection with culture, each woman's story is a testament to living life with pride and purpose.

Film screening: Kanyini  PG (55 mins) 2006

A listed traditional owner of Uluru and former Indigenous Person of the Year, Bob Randall acts as our guide to "Kanyini", which he describes as the principle of connectedness through caring and responsibility that informs all aspects of Aboriginal life. Bob poignantly explains why his people are now struggling in a modern world and what needs to be done for them to move forward. As Bob explains, "The earth is our Mother. That makes you and me brother and sister"
