Reconciliation Breakfast
Why reconciliation makes good business sense
Reconciliation South Australia believes that courageous leadership across all sectors of the community is key in closing the gap in areas such as health, education and employment. Within state and local government, the business community and the education not-for-profit sectors, there are examples where such leadership has resulted in significant benefits for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities; as employees, as clients and suppliers and as members of the community within which they conduct their business.
To mark the beginning of Reconciliation Week 2009, The Right Honourable Michael Harbison, Lord Mayor of Adelaide will host this not-to-be-missed breakfast on behalf of Reconciliation South Australia. A traditional Kaurna Welcome to Country and cultural performance will be followed by The Honourable Jay Weatherill MP, Minister for Aboriginal Affairs and Reconciliation.
Lew Owens, Reconciliation Ambassador and Chief Executive Officer of ETSA Utilities and John Reid, General Manager Football Operations, Adelaide Football Club will then speak about their commitment to reconciliation through creating an inclusive, respectful and cultural competent environment that has led to outstanding results for their organisations. |
